Piumal Samarawickrema

Piumal is a Financial Controller with 10+ years of Sri Lankan, Australian & US experience in the fields of Accounting & Finance spanning across a number of industries from Engineering & Construction, IT, Hospitality, Branding, Professional Services & Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

From humble beginnings as an Accounts Associate, Piumal embarked on his accounting career at an Australian owned BPO, where he managed a portfolio of Australian companies. He then worked as an Accountant and his Accounting & Finance experience accounts for Sri Lankan, Australian & US, including experience at Hayleys Fentons Ltd, a subsidiary of Hayleys PLC, a premier diversified conglomerate in Sri Lanka, Blue Star Realties Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Access Engineering PLC, a frontrunner in the Engineering & Construction industry in Sri Lanka, Crossover for Work, a premier US based MNC specialised in IT related services and at BrandWorks Consulting, an Australian based Branding Design Studio.

With determination and dedication, Piumal excelled in his career to become a Financial Controller, gaining extensive experience in the areas of financial reporting, budgeting & financial forecasting, tax compliance & reporting, financial analysis, cash flow management, internal audit & controls and bookkeeping.

Piumal is an Associate Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) Degree from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Piumal lives on the beautiful island of Sri Lanka with his family. He’s always up for trying out new things and his adventurous spirits take him diving, snorkelling, kayaking & hiking. When he is not out adventuring, you’ll find him strumming his ukulele.
